  • What does it mean to provide pay in lieu of notice?
Providing pay in lieu of notice means that the employer pays to the employee some amount of their wage to compensate for a shorter notice period. The pay in lieu of notice could be for all of the notice period, or just part of it. The employee would not continue to work during a period where they are receive pay in lieu of notice.

Statutory law requires the employer to provide notice, or pay in lieu of notice, where the employee is terminated without just cause.
